Martin Byrne is a Dublin-based visual artist whose practice encompasses both sculpture and painting. His work engages with abstraction, exploring the intersections between the natural and built environments. Byrne’s sculptural pieces are created using materials such as bronze, ceramic, and jesmonite, through which he investigates form, texture, and spatial relationships. His paintings, executed in oil and acrylic with mixed media, further extend these explorations into layered, atmospheric compositions that reflect his interest in materiality and structure.

D’Olier Street is honored to feature Byrne’s piece titled ‘Rise’, which is cast bronze on ebonized oak (Unique). Each of Byrne’s modular bronze pieces are welded in conversation with the others, creating harmony through the unexpected. This process explores space, depth, imperfection, and layered perspectives from every viewing point. Rise draws inspiration from the distinctive karst landscape of the Burren, County Clare.
